Mr. Bernard Albert Weaver, age 97 of Live Oak, FL passed away Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1918 in Wellborn, FL to Barney Alphonso Weaver and the former Linnie Pauline North.
On June 28, 1941 he married the love of his life, Miss Elizabeth Thomas of Melbourne, FL.
Mr. Weaver was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Live Oak for eighty years. He served in the Florida National Guard and the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and the Florida National Guard and was also a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed working with his hands and built the home he shared with Mrs. Weaver and their two children out of wood made from his uncle’s old tobacco barn. It truly was a labor of love.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with Mrs. Weaver in their garden. He was proud of his white acre peas that he planted each year.
Mr. Weaver was a good man. What more can be said of this beloved gentleman.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy four years, Elizabeth Weaver, his daughter, Sharon Heber of Live Oak; his son, Bernie (Paulette) Weaver, Glennville, GA; a brother, Wilton Weaver, Orlando, FL and Granddaughter Kristen Elisabeth Weaver of Charlotte, NC.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Funeral services were held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Hay officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak cemetery.
