Betty Lou DeTolve (nee Heinsohn), 86, passed away on March 5, 2018. She was born October 12, 1931 in Libertyville, IL. She lived much of her life in northeastern Illinois, in the cities of Zion, Waukegan, and Oak Lawn. She retired to Florida where she was active in her communities of Windmill Manor in Bradenton and Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park. She worked much of her life as an administrative assistant in public schools, and in her community churches.
She survived by her children, Ruth (Ray), David (Young), and John; grandchildren, Kim (Ernesto), Lodisca, Rachel (Jason), Luke (Anna), Michael (Charlene), Douglas (Michelle), Joseph, Faith, and Yoonhee; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, JoLynn, Eva, Skylar, Dakota, Sarah, Laura, Anna, Isaac, Zylis, and Zoey; brother William and sister Anna Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jennie (Irvine) Heinsohn; husbands Lincoln Ryder and Vince DeTolve, and her brother John.
Betty was a cheerful person with an infectious laugh, who was always finding ways to help those around her. Born into a farming family, she worked diligently in many roles throughout her life and set a good example of personal integrity and love. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
