Betty Ann Mizell Schneider born October 19, 1938 in Live Oak, FL, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL following a short battle with cancer.
An only child, born to Wesley and Ruth Mizell of Live Oak.
Betty lived most of her life in Live Oak, graduated from Suwannee High School where she was involved in numerous clubs and organizations and was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Live Oak.
At an early age she found her true love, the tall skinny boy that delivered milk to their house every morning before daylight. She was fourteen, and John Paul was sixteen. They went "Steady" all through high school.
After graduation, Betty was accepted into a nursing program in Tampa, FL and John Paul joined the Navy. When John Paul suggested they break up to pursue their careers, Betty suggested they get married. They got married on August 12, 1956, and she became a Navy wife. They were married sixty-two wonderful years. She put her nursing career on hold until they returned from the service, she then went to school to become an LPN and worked at Dowling Park. It is only fitting that Betty would become a nurse because she had a very genuine loving, kind, generous spirit.
Betty was very talented. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed watercolor painting, crocheting and playing the dulcimer with John Paul and friends.
She and John Paul enjoyed camping that started in a tent and ended up in a motor home with many, many more types of campers in between. The family teased them about always looking for a reason to trade campers. They loved taking the grandchildren on a lot of their adventures.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John Paul Schneider.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Dean) Jerkins, her son, Paul (Millie) Schneider; she has been a loving "Mema" to four grandchildren, Josh Schneider, Jessica (Tyler) Alcorn, Wesley Schneider and Jake (Dakota) Jerkins. Along with seven Great-Grandchildren, Ayla, Payson and Grayson Schneider, Emma, Ava and Ila Alcorn and Hazley Jerkins.
Before 2018 when John Paul died, they decided together that neither of them wanted a funeral or any kind of service. So, to honor their last wishes, there will be no service.
As a family we will reunite them and let them be: "John Paul and Betty" Together Forever.
