Brad Wells, age 71, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Friday afternoon August 12, 2011 at his home. The Jasper, FL native moved to Live Oak two years ago from Jasper. Brad joined the U.S. Air Force in 1959 and retired in 1980. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam, returning thirteen times with high ranking dignitaries, military and civilians. He was selected to fly as an air crew member and flew on Air Force One from 1973 till 1980. His career included visiting over sixty countries numerous times. He served with President Richard Nixon, President Gerald Ford and President Jimmy Carter. Following his retirement from the military, he worked with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for nine years having served under Sheriff Charlie Rhoden and Sheriff Harold Reid. He also retired from Suwannee Valley Electric in 2006 and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Jasper, FL.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Wells, Live Oak, FL; three daughters, Delicia Presley, Pascagoula, MS; Melissa Garrison, Live Oak; Tabetha Sturdivant, Palm Coast, Fl; three sisters, Jo Allan Willis, Madison, FL; Jackie Gardner, Little Rock, Ark; Mary Buchanan, Madison, FL; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Brad requested that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so please make contributions to the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 2000, Live Oak, FL 32064.
Graveside services will be held, 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 with full Military Rites in the Live Oak Cemetery with the Moody Air Force Chaplain officiating.
