Clarice Marion Galloway August 27, 1937 December 1, 2009 Clarice Marion Galloway, age 72, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Suwannee Health Care in Live Oak following a courageous battle with cancer. The Potecasi, NC, native moved to Live Oak, FL two years ago from Babson Park, FL. She attended Chowan Junior College and trained to type galley for a newspaper. Later, she attended East Carolina College and started teaching. Clarice taught PE for thirty years at Lake Wales High School and was a member of the Polk County Teachers Association. She enjoyed hunting for Indian Arrow heads, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, teaching basketry and making pine needle baskets. She loved music and played a guitar and a dulcimer. She wrote two poem books and loved to create in pottery and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Live Oak. Survivors include one sister, Jeannie Skipper, Live Oak, FL; one nephew, Robert Skipper; one niece, Elizabeth Skipper both of Live Oak, FL; two great nieces and two great nephews of Live Oak; grandmother, Ruby Jernigan of Ahoskie, NC; two uncles and a close family of cousins. Services were held, 10:00 AM Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Wilding officiating. No plants or flowers please.
