Clark Roland Slater, age 93, formally of Dowling Park, FL passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his home that he shared with his daughter in Indiana. He recently moved to Indiana from Florida to spend time with family. He was born in Cleveland, OH and was a Navy Veteran who served in WWII with twenty years of service as a driver and machine gunner before retiring to the reserves. He also served as deputy sheriff in Kennedy County Texas for twenty years while running his ranch the Ponderosa. After retirement Clark and his wife Ruth Carolyn Farris moved to Florida to be near to family. For the past eleven years they lived in the Dowling Park area where he and his wife were very active within his community. He was Christian by faith and attended First Baptist Church of Dowling Park. Clark was proud to be a Shriner and Mason for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Carol L. Thompson; grandchildren, Katherine E. (Melvin) Bellinger, Michael R. Trevino, Sandra D. (Rodney) Heston, Rodolfo A. (Heather) Trevino and Andrew D. (Cynthia) Trevino; great grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Tracy, McCoy, Kristy, K.C., Rodney, II, Kodi, Rodolfo,III, Austin, Tristin, Noah and Everly; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Tristan, Lucas, Mya, Kaylub, Kayden, Kaysen, twins, Kaylynn and Kaylee, Terance, Sophia, Malaya and soon to be Blakelee Grace. Preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, and son John Henry (Edward Kriston) Slater. Memorial services will be held at a later date in the First Baptist Church of Dowling Park.
