Clyde Hoyt Smith, age 83, of O’Brien, FL, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Suwannee Health Care Center in Live Oak, FL. He was born in Cross City, FL living most of his life in O’Brien. Clyde was a patient and generous man who followed his Savior Jesus Christ. He always saw the best in people. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed over 40 years of marriage with his wife Kathy. He was a skilled sportsman and marksman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Friends remember him as one of the greatest hunters they ever knew. He was a member of the O'Brien Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Green Berry and Nina Smith; a brother, Marcus Smith; a sister, Maude Evans and a son, Johnny Clyde Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith, O’Brien, FL; one son, Patrick Smith, Jacksonville, FL; five daughters, Angie (Rick) Davis, Auburn, AL; Marsha (Barry) Robbins, Marietta, GA; Valerie Smith, O’Brien, FL; Hannah Smith, Nashville, TN; Hillary (Michael) Burns, Nashville, TN; one brother, James H. (Dorothy) Smith, Maitland, FL; one sister, Helen Humphries, O’Brien, FL; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Viewing was held from 2:00 to 2:45 PM, Friday, December 18th at O'Brien Baptist Church. For the safety of friends and family during COVID, it will be social-distanced and the family will not be present at the sanctuary.
The graveside funeral was held at 3:00 PM, in the O’Brien Community Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Branche officiating.
