Deborah Odell Brookins, age 63, of Live Oak, FL passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL following a courageous battle with cancer. She was a native and life-long resident of Live Oak where she worked for many years as a waitress for Jay’s Restaurant. Deborah loved fishing, yard sales, music and dancing and was an avid Florida Gator fan.
She is survived by her “sweetie” Colon Harden, Live Oak; one son, Charles Michael Downing, Live Oak and one step-son, Lee Harden, Live Oak; two daughters, Gloria Downing, Ashley Peek and one step-daughter, Angie Sparks all of Live Oak; her mother, Odell Jowers Merritt, Live Oak; one half-brother, Robert Hudson, Lakeland, FL; one sister, Elizabeth Jean, Live Oak; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 15, 2016 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Curtis Thomas officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
