Debra Sue Hansen, age 59, of Live Oak, FL, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and at the age of 23, she moved from her hometown of Tuscaloosa to Atlanta, GA where she worked in Property Management for fifteen years. She then married and moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she lived for twenty years, raised her daughter, and later restarted her career in Real Estate, as a Community Association Portfolio Manager. At the age of 54, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer which she survived an additional four years. Debra was most proud of being a sincere, devoted, loving mom. She adored and cherished her daughter and expressed raising her as the most important, meaningful thing in her life. She was an avid school volunteer during her daughter’s school years. Additional volunteer projects that she was especially proud of, was the American Red Cross as a Case Worker during Hurricane Katrina and for volunteering as a multi-precinct leader during Obama’s first presidential election. Due to her love for historic homes and to be closer to Gainesville where her daughter was attending school, the last couple of years of her life she purchased and lived in a 1916 Circa home in Live Oak, FL.
She is survived by one daughter, Ana Hansen; five brothers, Johnnie Barger, LeRoy Barger, Steve Barger, Ricky Barger and Ronnie Barger; three sisters, Shirley Dobbs, Joyce Martin and Teresa Leach.
As per her wishes, finalization will be by cremation.
