Denward Morgan, age 88, of Live Oak, FL passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Surrey Place Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Jasper, FL, living most of his life in Live Oak. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from the V.A. after thirty-three years. He was a Deacon Emeritus and a charter member of East Side Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida. He served as treasurer of the Beulah Baptist Association for twenty-five years. He was the best husband, dad and granddad in the world.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Marguerite Morgan, Live Oak; one son, Jim (Wanda) Morgan, Live Oak; two daughters, Dianne (David) Parrish, Lakeland, FL; Elizabeth (Mike) Oxendine, Live Oak; five sisters, Iris Stansel, Green Cove Springs, FL; Ella Mae Vann, McAlpin, FL; Maxine Wiggins, Jacksonville, FL; Faye DeCouer, White Springs, FL; Jewell Gary, Live Oak; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held, 11:00 AM, Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Hugh Dampier and Ivan Clements officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery.
