Doris B. Allen

Doris Allen September 2,1927*November 21,2011 Doris Allen age 84, of Live Oak, Florida passed away early Monday morning November 21, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida following complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Alliance, FL living most of her life in Live Oak. Doris worked for many years in the banking business and retired as vice president from the First Commercial Bank of Live Oak. She was captain of the SHS cheerleaders from 1944-1945 and was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and the First United Methodist Church where she served as volunteer treasurer for over forty years. Doris was a loving and caring mother, grandma and friend. Her warm and tender smile will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Allen. Survivors include two sons, Don (Tesie) Allen, Live Oak, FL; Ken (Cyndi) Allen, Cocoa Beach, FL; two daughters, Linda (Bill) Riggins and Susan (Jim) Farabee both of Live Oak, FL; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the fellowship hall at the church. Funeral services were held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Finnin officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 311 S. Ohio Avenue, Live Oak, FL 32064.
