Doris Williams Starling, age 96, of Live Oak, FL, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 5, 1929 in Live Oak, FL, to Horace and Abbie Williams. Doris was married to W.C. Starling for fifty-six years before his passing in 2001. They owned and operated the family farm where she cooked many meals, worked on the farm, canned and froze vegetables and anything else that was required as a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed her talent for playing the piano and played for numerous funerals in the community as well as playing for her home church, Beulah Baptist Church, for many years. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing for her girls, quilting, crocheting, babysitting her grands and playing the piano. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and visiting with her Sunday School Class and her church family. She also enjoyed traveling with the “Seniors” in Suwanee County and with Madison Travel through the years. She traveled with family to Canada, Germany, Alaska, Mexico and other places when the opportunity was there. She was a member of the Senior Saints Choir at Westwood Baptist Church for over twenty years.
She was predeceased by her husband, W.C., and her parents, Horace and Abbie Lanier Williams; brothers, Billy, Elston, Raymond and brother-in-law, Harry Moseley; son-in-law, Curtis Poston; sisters-in-law, Von Erie Williams and Wannie Mae Williams.
She is survived by five daughters, Wynette Poston, Wanda (Wayne) Frier; Sheila (George) Burnham, Sharon (Ronnie) Capps and Robin (Todd) Land; three brothers; Donald William, Jimmy (Gloria) Williams and Ronald (Carolyn) Williams; one sister, Geraldine Moseley; sisters-in-law, Vivian Williams and Oveda Williams; eight grandchildren, Keith (Christina) Poston; Matt (Kerri) Frier; Todd (Carmon) Frier; Georgette (Travis) Robinson; Jennifer (Mike) Holtzclaw; Candice (Bobby) Boatwright; Abigail (Steven) Crosby and Adrienne (Josh) Craven; sixteen great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held, 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the Westwood Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Bush and her great grandson, Rev. Cole Frier presiding.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.
