Edith Deese Landen, age 87, of Live Oak, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Shands Lake Shore in Lake City, FL following a lengthy illness. She was born in Fargo, GA moving to Live Oak in 1935. Edith worked for the Suwannee County School system for over 25 years as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide. She was a member of Orange Baptist Church for sixty-four years where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She love to fresh water fish and had passion for catching catfish. She was known to have been able to skin a catfish faster than most people. She loved flowers and would spend a lot of her free time growing a garden.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph D. Landen and one daughter, Nancy Ameilia Landen, two brothers, Ralph Deese and Frank Deese; one sister, Lavader Carmichael.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Jim) Morgan, Live Oak; one son, Russell (Lisa) Landen, Live Oak; two sisters, Corine Mattheson, Winter Park, FL and Jewel Barrington, Dowling Park, FL; one brother, Paul Deese, St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Law; Staten (Tasha) Morgan and James (Sara) Jenkins-Morgan; five great grandchildren, Hayden & Jackson Law, Cheyenne & Kyle Morgan and Alex Jenkins.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM in the Orange Baptist Church, funeral services will follow in the church at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 23, 2018. Rev. David McKeithen and Rev. Matthew Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Those wishing to do so may send flowers or make contributions to the Gideon's.
