Edward Oliver Baird, Jr.

Edward Oliver Baird, Jr. age 80, of Live Oak, Florida passed away early Monday morning, June 6, 2011 at Suwannee Health Care Center. The Ft. Lauderdale, FL native moved to Live Oak thirteen years ago from Stuart, FL. Edward served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged as an EN2. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years before retiring. He loved being on the water, especially fishing and boating and also enjoyed collecting antique outboard motors and fishing equipment. He was a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, Inc., the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and also a member of the Westwood Baptist Church of Live Oak.
Survivors include his wife, Carol W. Baird, Live Oak, FL; one son, Bruce (Kathy) Baird, Live Oak, FL; one daughter, Frances Rodgers, Apopka, FL; one granddaughter, Kelly Jenkins and one great grandson, Matthew Jenkins, both of Live Oak.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 9, 2011 in the Westwood Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.
