Edwin Johnson Leathlean, Jr.

Edwin “Eddie” Johnson Leathlean, Jr., age 73, of Live Oak, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2023 at his home. Eddie was born on August 6, 1950 in Belle Glade, FL to Edwin and Evelyn Leathlean, Sr.  He was the fifth child of six children.  He grew up in Belle Glade, FL. He served as a crew chief Forward Air Control in the U.S. Air Force where he served three tours in Vietnam.  He retired from Metal Container in Gainesville, FL after over thirty years. He spent countless hours fishing, training and hunting his bird dogs.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin & Evelyn Leathlean; brother, Walter Leathlean and sister Linda Barrows.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-one years, Gwendolyn Leathlean; five children, Melissa (Keith) Morgan; Roger (Charity) Palmer; Jennifer (John) McMillian; Edwin (Diana) Leathlean, III and Lee Leathlean; six grandchildren, Devon, Brittney (Joshua) Thomas, Brandy (Stephen) Whilden, Ian McMillian, Colin McMillan and Lawson Leathlean; four great grandchildren, Isabella, Ares, Ashur and Mason; three sisters, Esther Godwin, Rita Offi and Isla Diggs.

Graveside services were held 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2023 in the Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Tim Carver officiating.
