Elizabeth Howell McMullen, age 94, of Live Oak, FL, passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday night, May 25, 2019 after a recent diagnosis of COPD. She was born in Wellbon, FL and had resided in Suwannee County all of her life. She was very active in her community and a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak. She was the happiest when serving others, whether teaching Sunday School, visiting shut-ins or volunteering at Shands Hospital Auxiliary where she served as president for seven years until she was 90 years old. She holds the highest record of 40,000 volunteered hours in the history of the Auxilary. Above all else, what she valued most in life, was the time she spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Horace and Ethel Emmaline Bond; husband and father of her children, L.E. Howell, Sr., son, Lloyd Howell, Jr. and subsequent husband, Melvin McMullen, a brother, H.B. Bond and a sister, Louise Valentine.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne (Howard) Van Arsdall, Lake City, FL; Dorothy Hingson, Lake City, FL and Linda Howell, Inlet Beach, FL; six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, May 30th from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held, 10:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2019 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Herrington officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Beulah Baptist church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shands Live Oak Ladies Auxillary Scholarship Fund in her memory, 1100 SW 11th St., Live Oak, FL 32064.
