E. Ray Williams, Sr. April 15, 1927 September 26, 2008 E. Ray Williams, Sr., 81 of Live Oak, Florida passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The Lake Park, GA native moved to Live Oak, FL in 1962 from Arcadia, FL. He was a security guard for the Suwannee County School System for 29 years. Ray was a member of Barrett Lodge #43 F&AM, Live Oak, FL, an avid fisherman enjoying both fresh and saltwater fishing. He loved gardening and was known for having a “green thumb”. Ray loved grilling out for his family and friends and was known as the “Galloping Gourmet” of Suwannee Avenue. He always helped his friends in need, loved his fellow man and was a member of the Rosemary Baptist Church of Live Oak. Survivors include his wife, Christine Williams, Live Oak, FL; one son, Elmo Ray Williams, Jr., Lake City, FL; two step sons, David Peterson and Danny Peterson both of Live Oak, FL; three grandchildren and four step grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30th at 10:00 am in the Friendship Baptist Church in Jasper, FL with Bishop Mark Duren officiating. Masonic Rites were conducted at the gravisde in the church cemetery.
