Gary Day

Gary Day, age 59, of Live Oak, FL, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 in the Advent Health Hospital in Orlando, FL following a brief illness.  He was born in Live Oak, FL where he was a graduate of Suwannee High School class of 1979.  Gary worked sixteen years for the Occidental Chemical Company before moving to South Carolina where he worked for ten years for Badcock Furniture while getting his associates degree in nursing.  He then went to work for Marlboro Park Hospital as a Registered Nurse and then with Embrace Hospice, doing what he loved, taking care of others.  Three years ago he moved back to his home town of Live Oak where he could spend more time with his family.  He loved taking his grandchildren to Disney World and just spending time with them.  He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, taking care of his chickens and his dogs.  He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Clayland Baptist Church where he loved going to church, reading his Bible and driving the church van whenever he was needed.

He was predeceased by his parents, George R. “Puggy” and Patty Day.

He is survived by his wife, Javonne Day, Live Oak; two sons,  Chad Day, Bennettsville, SC and Jeremy Day, Live Oak, FL; a special daughter-in-law, Kelly Day, Bennettsville, SC; two brothers, Andy Day, Live Oak and Shannon (Shelly) Day, Tallahassee, FL; his mother-in-law, Janice Shaw Donaldson and two grandchildren, Destiny and Lake Day.

Funeral services were held, 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2021 in the Clayland Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Lawhon and Rev. Billy Storm officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
