Gary died suddenly at home on September 9th. Born on September 17th, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio to Mary Clotel (Duncan) Lear and Harry Karl Lear, he was the only male heir in 43 years on the Lear side. Gary’s parents moved the family to Florida where he completed school before moving to Atlanta to join his sister Cheryl in 1989.

Gary had a keen gift for investing money that begun at an early age. This led to a successful career in wealth management serving a vast cliental after receiving a Bachelor of Science, College of Business, from Florida State University.

Gary started his career as a registered representative of New England Securities before serving as a Director of Investments for the Atlanta region. Met Life purchased the company which later lead to a buyout by Mass Mutual, where he remained, continuing to build his successful business.

Gary is survived by his sister Cheryl Lear McFadden, niece Madison Lear McFadden and his former wife, Cindy McClanahan Seaman. And his sweet dog Molasses. He had one living uncle, Billy Duncan. He was close to many of his cousins from his mother’s family including Jerry, David and Joel Pope and Robert Murry Wood, all who reside in Tennessee.

He was passionate about sports, was an excellent cook and served on the board of Directors for Chaine Des Rotisseurs of Atlanta, the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Gary on October 29th at 3 pm at the Coastal Bar and Grill, formally Houck’s Grill. 10930 Crabapple Rd B120, Roswell, GA 30075. The celebration is open to everyone. Please bring your pictures and stories to share.
