George Harvey Welker

George Harvey Welker, age 94 of Dowling Park, FL passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park. The Lebanon Jct, KY native moved to Dowling Park, FL in 1974 from Louisville, KY. He retired as a mechanic for the L&N Railroad. “Mr. George” as known by friends and family, was a WWII Veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a charter and life member of the DAV Chapter #126. Mr. George was the last of twelve children in his family. Fish, fish, fish he loved to fish! He was a member of the Village Church of Dowling Park. He was predeceased by his wife Irene Welker in 2009 who was the love of his life. George and Irene were inseparable, a perfect match, they always called each other honey and held hands everywhere they went up until the day she passed away. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held 1:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2013 in the Bixler Memorial Gardens East with Rev. Jack Jones officiating.
