Glen Lawrence Gavell

Glen Lawrence Gavell, 84, of Dowling Park, FL, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Glen was born in Boston, MA, July 5, 1942, to Bertram and Alma (McNeil) Gavell. He grew up in Roxbury, MA, in a family of 10 with his three brothers and four sisters. He married his beautiful wife Margaret Gavell in 1963, and they were married just shy of 50 years when Margaret passed.

Glen was a man of many jobs. A Jack of all trades, Master of none. He started working at a very young age delivering bottles of soda, then went to work driving a truck and delivering cases to stores. He worked at a factory building roller coasters, and for years he worked with asbestos. There were many other jobs in between, and he spent his last ten years working for NH State Hospital as a janitor so he would get a retirement and health insurance for life. Once retired, he remarried another lady and they were together for 3 or 4 years before she also passed.

Glen was a funny man, always joking around. He and his wife never had any children, but he always loved all his nieces and nephews. He was always doing something for all the kids. He was big into deer hunting and fishing. He also belonged to a 4-wheel club which he loved. During the snow times he enjoyed snowmobiling. He took his niece Sandra out on the trails one time when she was in her 30’s and she recalls how it made her feel like a kid for the day, never having had so much fun before in her life, and experiencing more laughs than she could ever remember.

Glen became a resident of Advent Christian Nursing Home in November of 2023. At first, he was not happy about the change but eventually adjusted well and enjoyed his time at the facility with staff and fellow residents until his passing.

Celebration of life services will be held, 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Elim Baptist Church in Ft. White, Florida with Pastor Brian Kline officiating.
