Grady Mercer, Sr., 74 of Live Oak, Florida passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Lake City V.A. Medical Center in Lake City, FL. He was a native of Live Oak, FL, living in Sebring, FL for several years then returning to Live Oak in 1993. He owned & operated Grady Mercer Construction Company for over forty years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict. Grady was a member of the Moose Lodge 624, Sebring, FL; the Egypt Shrine Temple, Tampa, FL; Sebring Shrine Club, Sebring, FL; Elks Lodge # 1529, Sebring, FL; American Legion Post #0107, Sebring, FL; Florida Sheriff’s Association, Live Oak, FL and the VFW Post #4300. In his spear time he enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church of Live Oak, FL.
Survivors include two sons, Grady Mercer, Jr., and Charles Wade Mercer both of Sebring, FL; three daughters, Mary Lynn Gilbert of Sebring, FL; Lisa Harner, Cartersville, GA; Ida Erwin, LaBelle, FL; three brothers, Edwin Mercer, Live Oak, FL; Virgil Mercer, Jacksonville, FL; Calvin Mercer, Live Oak, FL; one sister, Betty Ledoux, Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 5th at 1:00 pm in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel.
Finalization was by cremation.
