Houston H. Cundiff July 20, 1919 October 26, 2008 Houston H. Cundiff, age 89, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Sunday October 26, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family. The Albany, Alabama native lived most of his life in Live Oak, FL moving here from Greenville, FL in 1947. He met “Mama C” the love of his life in Washington, DC; they were married within six months and remained in wedded bliss for over 62 years. Houston was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served as a Corporal during WWII in Central Europe, Rhineland, Sicily Naples-Foggia Normandy, Northern France and Rome. He was the recipient of the Europe, Africa, Mediterranean Theatre of Operations Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. Houston was a farmer where he taught his children the meaning of hard work and strong family values. He was an avid supporter of the Future Farmers of America and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Cundiff in July 2008. Survivors include three daughters, Edith Cundiff, Live Oak, FL; Linda Kirby, Live Oak, FL; Mary Ellen (Bud) Stratton, Live Oak, FL; one sister, Vivienne Roberts, DuBois, PA; three grandchildren, Jared (Kristen) Kirby, Jamie Geiger, T.J. (Lacy) Geiger, and three great grandchildren, Easton and Erin Kirby, Bryce Geiger all of Live Oak, FL. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30th in the Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. J.H. Brown, Rick Roberts and Jared Kirby, officiating.
