James "Pete" Ellis Baxter, Jr., age 67, of Live Oak, FL passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL following a brief illness. He was a native and life long resident of Suwannee County. Pete was a previous owner of the Amoco Service Station in downtown Live Oak and a very gifted mechanic. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Viet Nam Era. He was a big-time fisherman and lived for his grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Jimmy (Honorine) Baxter, Orlando, FL; one daughter, Kay (Tony) Selph, Virginia Beach, VA; two brother, Lester Baxter and Kenneth Dutton both of Live Oak; two grandchildren, Kelly Selph and Chy Selph both of Virginia Beach, VA.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 23rd from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Graveside services were held, 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Orange Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Henry Smart officiating.
