James "Jim" Henry Forshier

James Henry “Jim” Forshier, age 78, passed away on November 14, 2024, in Gainesville, FL.  Born on July 4, 1946, in Mora, MN, he lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a willingness to help everyone, though he was known for his stubbornness.

Jim graduated from Mora High School in 1964 and went on to earn an AS degree from Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa.  He entered into the Navy Reserves in July 7, 1963 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Personnel Specialist (E4), with active duty from November 1, 1965 to August 21, 1967, during the Vietnam War.  His military service continued until July 7, 1972.

Professionally, Jim dedicated many years as a System Analyst, working with Prudential Insurance Company, Hartford Insurance Company, Gulf Life Insurance Company, and retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.  His work was not just a job but a significant part of his life where he applied his sharp analytical skills and attention to detail.

Jim was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak, FL.  His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and comfort through all seasons.  In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed working outdoors, solving crossword puzzles, reading and tinkering in his workshop.

He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia Berry Forshier; children, Nathan Forshier (Belinda), Noel Forshier, and Heather Albertson (Norman); grandchildren, Nolan Forshier (Kathryn), Caitlin Asencio (Oscar), Zoe Forshier, James Dean Albertson, and Megan Albertson; great-grandchildren, Nevan Forshier, Nathaniel Forshier, Vayda Forshier, Neil Forshier, Nolan Pierce Forshier, Elena Asencia, Layla Hernandez, and Graham Ver Pault; brother, Ricky Forshier; and many special nieces and nephews.  Also, brothers-in-law, Rex Berry (Marsha), and Eli Berry (Mary); sisters-in-law, Barbara Fore (Todd), Carmel Gorham (Pat).  He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Mary Forshier; brother, Colin “Kelly” Forshier; niece, Jamie Rae Forshier; and in-laws, Claude and Elizabeth Berry.

Services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 928 E. Howard St., Live Oak, FL 32064, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4038 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32216, on Monday, November 25, 2024.  Harris Funeral Home, 932 N. Ohio Avenue, Live Oak, FL 32064, is assisting the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Lung Association in memory of Jim.  His legacy of service, both in his professional life and personal endeavors, will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew him.
