James Edwin Rewis, age 83, of Live Oak, FL passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Macclenny, FL and as a child he was very serious about his Boy Scouts of America activities and finally became an Eagle Scout in his early teens. He was honored by a trip to the National Boy Scouts jamboree at Phil Mont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. That was his first journey away from home. He moved to Live Oak, FL in 1965 from Winter Garden, FL and worked in law enforcement and later as a claims adjuster in the Insurance industry before retiring. He was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church, the Live Oak Elks Lodge #1165 and Hayward Masonic Lodge. Ed loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing golf and spending time with the men’s coffee crew.
He was predeceased by his parents Obie and Lola Rewis, his son, James Edwin Rewis, Jr., a granddaughter, Kaylee Monique and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Glenda Rewis, one daughter, Gina Rewis Welch both of Live Oak; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Westwood Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Bush and Rev. Tim Carver officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.
Interment will be held in the Taylor Cemetery in Sanderson, FL at 2:30 PM – 26370 CR 250, Sanderson, FL 32087 with Masonic Rites at the graveside.
