James Closs “Jim” Thompson, age 87, of Live Oak, FL passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Lake City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL moving to Live Oak in 1977. He was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak. He was also a member of the Live Oak Elks Lodge, Florida Quarter Horse, McAlpin Volunteer Fire Department and the Suwanee Development Authority. He was a wonderful, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Thompson, Live Oak; one daughter, Donna Cox, Live Oak; two sons, James C. “Buddy” (Donna) Thompson, Live Oak and Garry (Alice) Thompson, McAlpin; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, January 7th from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held, 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Herrington officiating. Internment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.
