Joanne Mott

Barbara Joanne Raymond Hudson Mott, 89 of Dowling Park, Florida, passed away on February 21, 2024 at the Advent Christian Village Nursing Home.  She was born in Logan County, West Virginia to John and Allie Raymond, May 30, 1934.

Joanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Kay Hudson, brothers, Dr. John Edward Raymond, Joseph W. Wyne, John W. Wyne, sisters, Esther Raymond Clovis and Jaqueline Raymond Weeks.

She is survived and missed dearly by her husband, Don Mott and daughters, Sherry Ann Hudson David (Bill), Tama Lynn Hudson, and Patricia Jean Hall (James).

In 1945, after WWII, her dad moved them from West Virginia to Florida, settling in Putnam County.  She graduated from Melrose High School in 1951, where she thrived in sports and many clubs.  After high school she married Zane Gray Hudson having four beautiful daughters.

She went to work at Sante Fe Community College as an Administrative Assistant and retired in 1996.  While working she earned three degrees with Honors in Ornamental Horticulture, Liberal Arts and Human Services.  She met, fell in love with and married “Papa Don” Mott while at the college.

Her hobbies included writing, reading, landscaping, hiking and music.  She became a Certified Master Gardner.  She was an accomplished writer producing many poems, stories about her life and published three books.  Joanne played the piano, guitar, and mandolin.  She was very active in the church singing in the choir, leading the prayer team and became a Deaconess.

With her love of outdoors she hiked part of the Appalachian Trail.  She and Don were host volunteers at Pisgah National Forest, N.C. and Hoosier National Forest in Indiana.  They traveled the U.S. visiting every state and Canada in their motor home.

Her loving family included seven grandchildren, Jason Brannon, Josh Hunt (Laurie), Katie Green (Seth, Terren Bott (Tommy), Rainie Adams, Hudson Adams, Kelsea Hudson and ten Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Village Church in Dowling Park, Florida.
