Joel Amos Howard, Jr., age 87 of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who knew no stranger. Joel, known to those who loved him as "Boogie", "Dad", and "Papa" was born and raised by his grandparents in Blountstown, Florida. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, father, and five siblings. he was married to the love of his life, Rosemarie Howard, for 62 years before she passed in 2017. He is survived by five sons, Joel Wayne Howard, Michael Howard, William Howard, David Howard, and Richard Howard; his only daughter, Jennifer Howard; two brothers, George Howard and Ronald Johnson; 14 grandchildren who adored him; 25 beautiful great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joel was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a Purple Heart recipient, having served as a combat medic during the Korean War. However, his greatest achievement was his service as a devoted Husband, incredible Father, and loving grandfather and great-grandfather - roles for which he will forever be cherished and remembered. Viewing will be held at Harris Funeral Home & cremations in Live Oak on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be held at Nettles Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown, Florida Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM central time.
