John Michael Schmidlkofer

John (Jack) Michael Schmidlkofer, age 89, of Live Oak, FL passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  He was born on September 16, 1935, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to John and Ruth (Johnson) Schmidlkofer.

John was married to Janice Boehrig from 1955 to 1978, and together they raised three children in the Fond du Lac area. in 1978 he married Bonnie Wetzel Osterwhite and they began a new chapter in Clearwater, Florida, along with Bonnie's daughter, Kristina. In 2005 they settled in Live Oak, Florida, where John lived out his remaining years.

John spent 20 years employed with Fond du Lac County and, after relocated to Florida, held various jobs where he used his exceptional skill with his hands. Known for his knack for fixing just about anything, he had a tool for every task. Though not formally schooled in the trades, John was a lifelong learner, gaining knowledge through experience and determination.

While John was a strict disciplinarian as a father, there was so much more to him. He had a deep love for dogs, and his most recent loyal companion was Daisy. John was a problem solver, a doer, and someone who believed in the value of hard work and self-reliance.

He is survived by his children; Michael (Carel) Schmidlkofer of Deland, Florida; Steven (Lorann) Schmidlkofer of Vancouver, Washington; and Judith Roth of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; as well as his stepdaughter Kristina Smith. He is also by his grandchildren; Katie (Chase) Edmunds, Molly Schmidlkofer, Kristen Roth, Kevin Roth and David Roth and Andrea Smith; and his great-granddaughters Evelyn and Audrey Edmunds. He also leaves behind his brother Tom Schmidlkofer of Neenah, Wisconsin.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bonnie.

A special mention must be made of his lifelong friends, Dale and Patty Kuen of Wabeno, Wisconsin. Their friendship endured decades and distance, with package from Dale arriving in the mail nearly every week. John will also be deeply missed by his friends and neighbors in Live Oak, Florida.

John lived a life marked by resilience and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Per dad's request, there will be no funeral service.

As per his wishes, finalization will be by cremation.
