John E. Zieminski, Jr., 66, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2021, at his home in McAlpin, FL. Originally from Southington, CT, John moved six years ago to live a quiet and peaceful life in rural McAlpin, FL, where he had friends and was close to other family. He lived on his farm, where he was able to enjoy the land and the peacefulness of nature around him. John was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 107 in nearby Live Oak, FL. He was a former member of the Southington, CT Jaycees and a former member of the Southington Sportsmen's Association, and was a longtime charitable donor to the St Jude's Children's Hospital. His hobbies included backyard beekeeping, gardening, holistic medicine, Bible Study, and playing guitar. John was predeceased by his mother, Derwood (Derry) E. Chiapponi and father John E. Zieminski, Sr., and his eldest sister Karen Munson. He is survived by his three sisters: Joy Boudreau, Holly Lafferty, and Hope Varnedoe, his two daughters: Elise Sirhal and Robin Smith, and by his four grandchildren: Nathaniel Smith, Christopher Smith, Wyatt Sirhal, and Aubrey Sirhal, his former wife and dear friend Barbara Pease, and by his loving, and beloved, cat Max. John requested that instead of a traditional funeral and burial, that we celebrate his life and scatter his ashes. Please join us in a Celebration of Life in his honor at the beautiful and scenic Sebastian State Park in Melbourne, FL. We have reserved Pavilion #3 for February 20th at 11:00 am, where we can enjoy his favorite music, along with favorite photos, memories, and stories. Food and refreshments will be available.
