Julia Jordan, age 88, of Live Oak, FL, passed away, Saturday, July 16, 2022. At the time of her passing, she was in her home with family. It was a quiet, peaceful, and restful homegoing. The Psalmist said, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints” (Psalm 116. 15). This was certainly a precious moment for us.

Julia was born in Valdosta to the late Henry and Ada Lawson on March 19, 1934. She grew up in Starke and married her high school sweetheart Joe in 1952. They raised their four children in a variety of Florida towns before finally settling in Live Oak in 1969. They established the Jordan Insurance Agency and the JJ Beefmaster Farm. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she often played both piano and organ.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Joe, son Joe Henry Jordan, daughter Lynne Buchanan, granddaughter Victoria Horvath, great granddaughter Callie Jordan, sister Elizabeth Lawson, and brothers Charles Lawson and Bud Lawson. She is survived by son Andy (Ramona) Jordan and daughter Cindy (Glenn) Horvath, all of Live Oak; sister Agnes (Bill) Morar and sister-in-law Velma Lawson; 11 grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Jordan, Meredith (Matt) Lesnowicz, Morgan (Richard) Armstrong, MacKenzie (Ian) Britton, Lauren (La ’Ronn) Parker, Jordan (Samantha) Miller, David (Amanda) Jordan, Daniel (Lane) Jordan, Philip (Jordan) Horvath, Andrew (Rose) Horvath and Caroline Horvath; 16 great grandchildren: Canoa, Kincaid and Julia Lesnowicz; Luther, AB and Noah Britton; Andie Pearl Armstrong; Ethan Jordan; Addie and Rory Jordan; Boaz and Piper Horvath; Emery Parker; Colton and Wyatt Miller; Hayden Saling; daughter-in-law Lyn Tovar; son-in-law Tom Buchanan.

When thinking of words that describe Mimi (our mom), these come to mind: loving, loved, given to hospitality, humble, enduring, witty, persistent, strong-willed, and gracious…very gracious. We have not been surprised but are still overwhelmed by the number of folks who have reached out to our family to express their love and condolences to us because they loved her so much. Please know that she loved you in the same way.

Mimi had a way of putting things into perspective. All her family members have memories of statements she made at just the right time that bring smiles to our hearts. One of her favorites was, “There’s a fine line between worry and deep concern.” But there was something she said in her last hours that will stick with us for a long time, “Don’t plan on anybody but Jesus. Depend on Jesus, that’s all we do.”

As a family, it is our desire that you too, will know Jesus the way she knew Him. Plan on and depend on Jesus, that’s all we do.
