Kenneth Leroy Townsend September 5, 1937*January 1, 2011 Kenneth Leroy Townsend, age 73, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Saturday morning, January 1, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. The Blackshear, GA native moved to Live Oak, FL in 1972 from Jacksonville, FL. He was a retired land surveyor for the city of Jacksonville and J. Sherman Frier & Associates. He proudly served in the Florida National Guard for six years and he was of the Baptist faith. He is predeceased by his parents, George H. & Nancy Lucille Townsend, two sisters, Myrna DeRay and Suzanne Townsend, a grandson, Joseph Smith. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Townsend, his step mother Bernice McCall, Jacksonville, FL; one son, Marvin (Dorothy) Townsend, Live Oak, FL; four daughters, Chyrel (Jerry) Smith, Hayesville, NC; Connie (Dan) Davis, Lake City, FL; Tamsie (Tim) Roberts, McAlpin, FL; Leesa (Luis) Townsend, Anderson, SC; two brothers, George H. “Billy” Townsend Jr., Houston, TX; Charles Townsend, Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Lynnell Carter, Crossville, TN; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services were held, 10:00AM, Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in the Restlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 Hwy 90 W., Lake City, FL 32055.
