Lannie Clayborn Higginbotham, Jr., age 89, of McAlpin, FL, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Jacksonville, FL moving to Live Oak in 1969. He was a retired Jacksonville Police Officer and veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. Lannie was also a well-known farmer in the community. He loved reading, tinkering around the farm and was known by his family, as the animal whisperer. He was a member of the McAlpin Advent Christian Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by one daughter, Laura (J.L.) Haynes, McAlpin, FL; one sister, Cora Lee Terrell, Sevierville, TN; five grandchildren, Duwane (Janet) Higginbotham, Bridget Parks, Lannie Haynes, Jared Haynes, Daniel (Sara) Higginbotham; seven great grandchildren, Ethan Parks, Hannah Parks, Jacob Higginbotham, Sutton Higginbotham, Ashley Higginbotham, Taylor Hunt and Elizabeth Yates.
Funeral services will be held, 2:00 PM, Friday, March 16, 2018 in the McAlpin Advent Christian Church with Rev. Luther Rowland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.The family request for those who would like to bring food, to take it the day of the services to the church kitchen. Nothing to the house please.
