Lewis Fillyaw

Lewis Fillyaw, age 84 of Luraville, FL passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL following a lengthy illness. He was a native and life long resident of Suwannee County. A veteran of the Korean Conflict who proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and later in the U.S. Army. Lewis was an Independent Contractor in the Telecommunications Industry, a member of the American Legion Post #107, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #624, Lake City, FL and member of the Luraville Baptist Church. Preceeded in death by his parents Mose & Idella Fillyaw and his brother Claud Fillyaw. He is survived by his long time companion, Marsha Lee, Luraville, FL; two sons, Roger (Jennifer) Fillyaw, St. Augustine, FL; Joshua Fillyaw, Dover, DE; three daughters, Della (Don) Wood, Dallas, TX; Rebekah (Jerry) Ponds, Oxford, FL; Amanda (Josh) Wills, Harrington, DE; two brothers, O.T. (Sonja) Fillyaw, Dowling Park, FL; Jimmie (Colleen) Fillyaw, Deland, FL;sister-in-law Doris Fillyaw; Dowling Park, FL, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; also Martha Fillyaw, Oxford, FL and Diane Fillyaw-Hedrick, Laurel, DE. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26th from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the Luraville Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ray Boone officiating with military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to V.A. Hospice, 619 S. Marion St., Lake City, FL 32025 or the charity of choice.
