Lillon Johnson Roberts, age 93, of Live Oak, FL passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Solaris Health Care Center in Lake City. She was born in Suwannee County on April 1, 1923, the only child of Albert Sidney Johnson and Etta Susan Heirs Johnson. She attended school in Live Oak but left early to marry and raise a family. She later completed a GED and then earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in elementary education from Valdosta State University.
She taught third grade in Suwannee County for twenty-two years. After retiring, she lost her sigh to macular degeneration and moved to Advent Christian Village and later to Lake City, FL.
She was predeceased by her son, H. Julian Roberts; grandson, Michael Roberts; the father of her children, Houston W. Roberts and her friend, George Atwell.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Lillon Roberts is survived by her son, Claude Roberts (Faye), Lake City, daughter-in-law Sally Roberts, Tallahassee, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Harris Funeral Home, 10:00 AM Thursday, October 6th with a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Rocky Sink Baptist Church cemetery where Lillon was laid to rest next to her parents.
Memorial donations may be made to the cemetery fund of Rock Sink Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Solaris Health Care Center for their care and support during Lillon’s final days.
