Marion J. “Mom” Israel Konight, 84 of Live Oak, Florida passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga following a lengthy illness. Marion was born in Patterson, N.J., former resident of Hawthorne, N.J. where she worked as a telephone switchboard operator for AT & T and during WWII as an inspector of cams and pistons on aircraft engines. The family moved to Stuart, FL in 1972 then moved to Live Oak, FL in 2000. She was a home-maker and housewife married to Kenneth Konight who preceded her in death in 1990. Her favorite hobbies included reading, nature study, cross-word puzzles and her pet companion, “Pete”. She greatly enjoyed her weekly visits from her two close friends, Phyllis Marvin and Joan Gritz. She was of Catholic faith and attended Mass at both St. Francis Xavier in Live Oak and St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Jasper, FL. Survivors include four daughters, Kathyann (Michael) Larney, Live Oak, FL; Patricia (Anthony) Dowd and Elizabeth (Robert) Nicol both of Arvada, CO; Ellen (Glenn) Sutton of Port St. Lucie, FL; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Kyla Leverock, Zachary, Morgan and Marissa Larney and Brianna and Dominic Witherow. Memorial Mass was held Friday, June 20th at 1:00 pm at St. Therese in Jasper, FL with Father Richard Perko officiating. Finalization was by cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese, c/o St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1179, Live Oak, FL 32064.
