Matthew Bloxam Bennett, age 63, of Live Oak, FL passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the V. A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He was a native of Live Oak working for the U.S. Postal Service. Matthew retired from the U.S. Air Force having served for 21 and ½ years. He traveled around the world 2 ½ times was in Special Ops and served his country proudly in Viet Nam, Thailand, Granada, Desert Shield and Somalia. He was the recipient of two Meritorious Service Medals, six Outstanding Unit Medals, and two Air Force Achievement Medals and was a Worldwide Airlift Competition Champion. He loved hunting and fishing with his father. He was a member of the East Brent Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL. He is survived by his mother, Edna Bennett Morgan, Live Oak; one son, Randy Bennett, Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his services at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the First Advent Christian Church with Rev. Tim Carver officiating. Internment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery with full military rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the local D.A.V., 226 Parshley St., S.W., Live Oak, FL 32064.
