Melvin T. Parker, age 89, of Live Oak, FL passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Florida. The Tupelo, Mississippi native moved to Live Oak in 2003 from Davie, Florida. Mr. Parker loved to fish and feed and watch the squirrels and birds. He was a clock maker and had a collection of clocks. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class and was a member of the Church of God of Dowling Park, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Parker of Live Oak, Florida; one son, Bobby Parker of Pensacola, Florida; one daughter, Peggy Scheidel of Ocean Shores, Washington; one sister, Hazel Wallace of South Bend, Indiana; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 12th from 5 to 7 PM at Harris Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at the graveside at 3:00 PM Friday, June 12, 2009 in the Live Oak Cemetery with Pastor Shane Pooler officiating.
