Paul Franklin Pruett September 1, 1938 November 14, 2009 Paul Franklin Pruett, age 71, of O’Brien, Florida passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at his home in O’Brien, FL. The Bartley, WV native moved to O’Brien, FL in 1999 from Sanford, FL. He was a retired highly decorated U.S. Army Major having served during the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal (2d Award); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Army Commendation Medal (2OLC); Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Bronze Star Medal; 2 Oversea Bars; Staff Service Medal 1st Class. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Pruett, mother, Bertha Brooks Cazares, step-father, Tony Cazares, sister, Janice Buchanan, brother, William Pruett, grandson, Christopher Gettys; Survivors include his wife, Freda Ann Pruett, O’Brien, FL; two daughters, Diana Schumaker, Mayo, FL; Denise Copping, Astor, FL; one son, David Pruett, Stow, OH; one brother, Charles “Buddy” Pruett, Augusta, GA; one sister, Betty Burkett, Odessa, FL; one half-sister, Josephine Kennedy, Bartley, WV; five grandchildren, Athena Ferencek, Stevie J. Schumaker, Chandra Kovach, Jessie Potts, Samantha Potts; six great grandchildren, Shyane Ferencek, Andrew Ferencek, Amber Ferencek, Daniel Kovach, Jasmine Kovach, Eva Kim Potts. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, Nov. 18th from 5 to 7 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL with full Military Rites held at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
