Ray Minter, age 85, of Live Oak, FL passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at Suwannee Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. The Milledgeville, GA native moved to Live Oak in 1970 from Milledgeville, GA. Ray was a self-employed carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak.
He was predeceased by his wife Verna Minter and a granddaughter, Ida Parker.
He is survived by a son, Grady (Linda) Minter, Milledgeville, FL; two step-sons, Mike (Sarah) Johnson, and Harold Johnson all of Live Oak.three daughters, Charlene Mathis, Raynell Faulkner, Helen Ray; two step daughters, Charlotte (Bobby) Land, Moultrie, GA; Vivian (Troy) Stevens, Richton, MS; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 6, 2014 in the Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Herrington officiating.
