Richard Dwain Clayton, age 81, of O’Brien, FL, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. He was a native of Jacksonville, IL moving to O’Brien, FL in 1989. He served in the U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer and was a member of the American Legion and Commercial Offshore Fishing Club. Richard loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, racing, demolition derbies, breaking horses, CB radios and collecting guns. His most enjoyable moments were the times spent with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Eva Mae Clayton, brother, Mike Clayton and one great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Sharon Clayton, O’Brien, FL; three sons, Richard Dwain (Lynn) Clayton, Jr., Zephyrhills, FL; John Charles (Jean) Clayton, Live Oak, FL; Brian Wayne Clayton, Tampa, FL; three daughters, Cheri Lynn (Pete) Dunn, Lake City, FL; Terri Jean (Troy) Johnson, Live Oak, FL; Keri Sue (Scott) King, Fitzgerald, GA; one brother, Jerry (Robin) Clayton, Chicago, IL; three sisters, Patricia (Norm) Muller, Atlanta, IL; Susie (John) Steele, Girard, IL and Linda Clayton, Girard, IL; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Graveside services with full military rites will be held, 12:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Rick Hill officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 Hwy 90 West, Lake City, FL 32055.
