Robert Lee “Bob” Gentry, age 87, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2025. Born on September 13, 1937, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Bob lived a life filled with kindness, service, and a love for family and community.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving both on the USS Bennington CVA-20 and the USS Pine Island AV-12. He also became an honorary attendee of the USS Mills DE 383 DER 383 Reunions. Bob dedicated over 50 years to the Masonic Fraternity, proudly serving in many roles, including DDGM. His devotion extended to his church, Clayland Baptist, where he was a treasured member, and to the American Legion #107, where he served as an adjunct. Bob’s unwavering commitment to community and service will long be remembered by those who knew him.

Bob is fondly remembered for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. His passions included playing golf, RV adventures with his beloved wife, Lynn, and picking bluegrass with his musician friends. Above all, Bob cherished spending time with his family.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Dorthy Gentry, his brothers James, Ronald, and Michael, his sisters Kaylene and Cheryl, his son Robert Jr. and daughters Terry and Deborah Lowery Bowman.  Bob is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Hagan Gentry; daughters, Belinda Gentry (Jesse), Juli Dee Barker (Terry), Tina Lowery Duntz (Richard) and Teresa Lowery; son, Jeffrey Lowery (Jennifer); as well as a large extended-blended family, who will all deeply miss his presence.

A celebration of Bob’s life was held at Clayland Baptist Church, Live Oak, Florida, on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. Visitation was held at 10 am, followed by services at 11am. In honor of Bob’s memory; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Clayland Baptist Church or an organization of choice.

In the spirit of Bob’s deep faith and community involvement, we reflect on John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” May Bob rest in eternal peace, having lived a life full of love and service.
