Robert "Smiley" Rushing, Sr.

Robert Elsworth Rushing, Sr., “Smiley” age 78, of O’Brien, FL, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, at his home.  He was born in Miami, FL moving to O’Brien in 1977 from Miami.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as an E-5 during the Vietnam War.  He worked as an electrician and was a member of the Live Oak Church of the Nazarene.  He was also a member of the Union IBEW #349 and enjoyed bowling, traveling, telling stories, playing games (card games specifically), watching wildlife and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Janette Rushing, O’Brien, FL; one son, Robert (Shawna) Rushing, Jr., Fleming Island, FL; one daughter, Samantha (Brian) Deuser, Ft. Worth, TX; two grandchildren, Jenna and Trey Rushing.

Funeral services were held, 2:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025, in the Live Oak Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Louis Medaris officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.   Interment was held in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
