Sherwood Harvard Boatright

Sherwood Harvard Boatright, age 86, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Haven Hospice, Suwannee Valley Care Center, in Lake City, Florida following a brief illness.  The Suwannee County native graduated from Aurora College, in Illinois, and retired from Suwannee District Schools, where he taught American History at Suwannee High School, for fifty years, from 1958-2008.  Mr. Boatright was a devoted member of Patmos Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Arch and Susan Elizabeth Starling Boatright; brothers, Thomas Lee Boatright, Carra Monroe Boatright, John Alfred Boatright, Allen C. “Pete” Boatright and Billy Ray Boatright; sisters, Honorine Harris, Winifred Padgett and Lillian Margaret Baker Wilson.

He is survived by two brothers, Ronald O. Boatright (Ingrid), Orange Park, FL and Spessard H. Boatright, Tallahassee, FL; sisters-in-law Annettee Boatright, Jacksonville, FL and Alice Boatright, Live Oak, FL; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is also survived by the families of Walter Boatright, Jr. and Leenette McMillan-Fredriksson, whom he loved dearly.

Visitation was held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Philadelphia Baptist Church, 15824 169 ^th Road, McAlpin, FL 32062, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM, with John-Walt Boatright officiating.  Interment was held in the church cemetery.
