Stephen Michael Buncher, age 65, Live Oak, Florida, died December 15, 2022 in Gainesville, Florida.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native was born on February 10, 1957. Mr. Buncher was of the Jewish faith.
Mr. Buncher was a 1975 graduate of the prestigious Phelps Preparatory School, Malvern, Pennsylvania, where he was active in equestrian sports and student government.
He attended the University of Miami, Miami, Florida, and, later, went to work in the Design District working in the wholesale furniture division in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He met the love of his life and longtime partner, Robert E. Boylan Jr. there.
He and Robert spent 14 years together until Roberts death. Together they restored a historic Connecticut home built in the 1700s in East Haddam, Connecticut. They were both interested in historic homes, especially those of the antebellum period. They made numerous trips to Louisiana and Mississippi touring homes.
Mr. Buncher lived in Cape Coral, Florida, before moving to Live Oak, Florida, in 2001.
Stephen was altruistic and contributed to a number of charitable causes.
He was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Robert E. Boylan Jr., his beloved mother, Elaine Buncher and his father and stepmother, Jack and Joanne Buncher as well as a sister Bernita Buncher Rubinoff.
Stephen's father, the late Jack Buncher was the CEO of the Buncher Company and the Buncher Foundation Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Stephen is survived by a brother, Albert Barr, very devoted friends, Joseph "Joey" Timothy Massey, Live Oak, Florida, Lissette Morley, Orlando, Florida, and a host of other devoted friends also survive.
An entertaining storyteller, a meticulous keeper of his pets, home, and property, a keen sense of humor, and a generous spirit. Stephen will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
At Stephen’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to the following charities: Suwanee Valley Human Society, Lake City Humane Society, or the ASPCA.
