Thelma McKnight Phillips, age 95, of Live Oak, FL passed away Tuesday, December 16, at the Suwannee Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was born in Lake City, S.C. on June 26, 1919 to George and Olivia McKnight. The family moved to Live Oak when she was six years old as her father started teaching the skill of growing tobacco. On September 16, 1939 she married Proctor Phillips. They had three daughters, Thelma Elleanor (Tom) Barbieri, Melbourne, FL; Minnie Olivia (Tom) Hutchison, Live Oak; Gloria Joyce Julia (Anthony) Sullivan, Live Oak; She is survived by five grandsons, Mark Lang, Tom Hutchison, Jr., Wayne Hutchison, Chad Sullivan and Zach Sullivan,one granddaughter, Becky Carter; five great grandchildren, Devon Lang, Ben Hutchison, Sam Hutchison, Herb Hutchison, Maddie Carter, Camryn Carter, Anthony Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Proctor E. Phillips and grandson Albert Charles “Chuck” Lang, Jr..
Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phillip Herrington and Rev. Louis Medaris officiating.
