Vernon R. Daughtry, Jr., 73, took his last earthly breath on April 13, 2018, living his entire life in Suwannee County. He retired from PCS in White Springs, FL and is an active part of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He was a retired veteran of the Army National Guard, having served in Desert Storm in the Gulf War.
He is predeceased in death by his parents, Vernon, Sr. and Marie Brooker Daughtry, one sister, Frances McCall, and two brothers, Tony and Raymond Daughtry. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marilyn, one daughter, Mia (Rob) Price, Orlando, one son, Marlon Daughtry, Orlando, and one adored grandson, Conner Vernon Price, one sister, Louise Daughtry, Live Oak, one brother, Jerry Daughtry, Sr., Center Hill as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by many friends as he was a special one of a kind person – to know him was to love him – it only took a moment to become a lifelong friend to Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suwannee Valley Care Center also known as Haven Hospice of Lake City, FL or to the Kitchen Remodeling Fund of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services were held, Tuesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel. Internment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.
