Zoe Townsend Profile Photo
The family of Zoe Swanson Townsend mourns the loss of their beloved mother to this world on March 3, 2016, and we celebrate her arrival into the loving presence of our Lord and Savior. Zoe was born in Jamestown, New York, on November 18, 1922. She relocated to Live Oak, Florida, in 1955 and married Wallace Sharpe Townsend, who predeceased her in 2008. She is survived by David Townsend of Brooksville, Florida; Bill Townsend of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Richard Townsend of Fleming Island, Florida; Doug Townsend of Bradenton, Florida; Debbie Williamson of Anderson, South Carolina; Mark Townsend of Charlotte, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren. Her life is best described as being dedicated to her Christian faith, devoted to her family, and committed to community service. She was a Sunday school teacher, circle moderator, and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Live Oak, a past moderator of Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of St. Augustine, past president of the Live Oak Woman’s Club, past chair of the Suwannee County Historical Commission, and a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organizations of Tallahassee, Florida and Anderson, South Carolina. We will miss the love she so lavishly bestowed upon her family and all with whom she came in contact and the devotion which her life exemplified. Funeral services were held at Covenant First Presbyterian Church on White Avenue on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM. A private family burial was held at 11:00 AM in the Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Suwannee County Historical Commission in Live Oak.
